Cassette J-card design I created for Da'an's single collection, 'Crunchy Combo on a Stick'. The cassette cover incorporates the 13 singles' artworks, which were submitted by 10 different collaborating artists and makers. I chose a busy, digital collage to represent this album–it matches the lush, full sound of the tracks and the collaged approach that many of the artists took.
The back of the cassette includes a QR code which leads to the album on Bandcamp, where listeners can download a digital art book that includes all of the single covers. The act of including QR on a physical, retro form of media is simultaneously ironic and practical in this case, which compliments Da'an's offbeat style.
This is the single art that I contributed to the aforementioned project. The single I chose, "Oh Yeah 2", is a winding, experimental song with somewhat random lyrical content. The finished design is a digital montage of experiments I did using my scanner and objects in my home. I produced the text in the image by scanner-glitching a sheet that I typed on my typewriter. The multicolored streaks were similarly created by rolling a prism across the scanner bed.
The album cover for 'This' by Da'an along with the illustrations on cut paper I created for the design. This design captures the airy, open, playfulness of the record, along with its bright but ever-present spookiness.
Album cover for Da'an's single, 'Bank'. Utilizing his film photography, I made the cover image and created a motion graphic version of it for his Instagram page with a loop of a segment of the single.
Cassette J-card design for Russel the Leaf's record, 'My Street'. To give a sense of consistency and do justice to the existing album art, I converted the handwritten and collaged wordmark into vector art for the spine, and sampled colors from the painting to color all the type throughout. I continued this process with the side A and B labels by vectorizing the artist's handwriting and placing it over close-up details of the painting he chose for the album art.
